Dr. Byron N. Lingeman, 80, of 203 Wallace Ave., a practicing physician 50 years, died Wednesday evening in Culver Hospital where he had been a patient a week. An eye, ear, nose and throat specialist, he served in the Army Medical Corps during World War I. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Columbia Club at Indianapolis, a charter member and past president of the Kiwanis Club here, and a member of the American Legion and of Alpha Omega Alpha, honorary medical fraternity. A native of Brownsburg, he was born Feb. 8, 1894, to Samuel and Julia Roberts Lingeman. He was a graduate of Brownsburg High School and the IU Medical School and served his internship in General Hospital at Philadelphia. Dr. Lingeman was married in 1926 to Vera Spencer, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Dr. Byron Lingeman of Welsey Hills, Mass., and Richard Lingeman, a member of the New York Times staff; a brother, Frank, living in Florida, and three granddaughters. There are no visitation hours at Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Private family services will be conducted in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family says memorials may be made to Culver Hospital or to favorite charities.
